Description: This is a tungsten radioactive isotope vial shield. Used in the radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear medicine, this is commonly referred to as a "pig" Solid tungsten material is extremely durable and has better gamma radiation attenuation than lead. The only drawback of tungsten is that it is significantly more expensive than the lead. This unit is designed for vials containing liquid radioisotopes, but can be use for any source, ie minerals, rocks, etc. The Tungsten Vial Shield features a removable screw top and bottom. The top lid has a tapered hole to accommodate dose drawing while minimizing radiation exposure. The hole can be shielded with a tungsten plug, a removable cover (need snap pliers to utilize) that can be inserted for secure transportation/storage. Store your radioactive sources (emiting ionizing radiation; gamma rays, alpha particles, beta particles, and neutron radiation) in these tungsten containers with tungsten shielding.
