Description: This vintage print titled "Lincoln and the Contrabands" depicts a historical scene with Abraham Lincoln. This print done from an original painting by J. L. G. Ferris features President Abraham Lincoln speaking with a small group of African-Americans who have traveled to Washington, D. C., from somewhere in the south during the Civil War. They are depicted in front of the White House and the African-Americans seem to be distressed. A soldier is keeping a small group of five behind him who are probably waiting to speak with the president. A carpetbag with a cane atop is on the ground beside the young boy holding on to his mother's apron. Two Caucasian women stand behind President Lincoln. The artwork measures 13 inches in width and 8 1/2 inches in height when unframed. It is a single-piece work by J.L.G. Ferris, who also signed it. This is a wonderful addition to any vintage art collection. A print like this sold at One Source Auctions in New York for $250.00 on Sept. 7, 2020.
