Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID.Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list! This listing is for a vintage Buescher alto saxophone. The serial number on this horn is 257,xxx, which indicates a c.1930 production date. This is an example of the 4th variation (series IV) of the first model produced by Buescher. These don't really have a model name per se. They are commonly, albeit incorrectly, known as a "True Tone", but simply "The Buescher" is a more accurate name. The series IV version of this model had a number of improvements, including an updated 'floating' octave key, rocker mechanism on the bridge key, and half-moon/roller G# key. Like earlier versions, these came with Buescher's proprietary snap-on resonators installed. These also came with a variety of neck options, this one having the "*" type. This sax is being sold as is for repair/restoration. It is not currently in playing condition. It is in overall good physical condition for its age but will require a full overhaul to be made playable. There are no significant dents or dings, just a handful of minor pings/nicks. The neck has not been pulled down. The bow guard has not been pushed in. The rim of the bell has not been bent. I don't see any pushed in posts or key guard feet. The low Eb key guard is bent though, and it has two broken solder joints. The brace between the keyguards for the forked Eb and low B pads is missing. This is a weak point on these horns, so it is very common to see this piece having come off. There are a few previously re-soldered key-guard feet with some excess solder surrounding them. The collar around the neck receiver is separating slightly, so it needs to be resoldered. The keys are all moving and rebounding properly. Unfortunately, many of the snap-on resonators have been removed, but a handful are still intact. One roller is missing, and a couple are not turning freely. The silver plate finish is mostly intact, but heavily tarnished and dirty. The pads/corks are completely shot. There is no case, nor any other accessories included. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
