Description: Vintage 2007 Gas Credit Card ConocoPhillips, an American multinational energy corporation, was created from the merger of Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. in 2002. Conoco was founded in 1875 as the Continental Oil and Transportation Co. It was one of the first to use tank cars for oil transport. Phillips Petroleum Co. was started in 1917 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, by brothers L.E. and Frank Phillips. Both companies grew significantly through the 20th century, becoming key players in the oil and gas industry. Their merger in 2002 formed one of the largest global oil and gas companies, combining the strengths and assets of both Conoco and Phillips. ConocoPhillips operates in several sectors: exploration, production, refining, and marketing. In 2012, ConocoPhillips restructured its refining and marketing operations into a separate, independent company, Phillips 66, focusing on the production, refining, and marketing of the Phillips 66, Conoco, and 76 brands. This split allowed ConocoPhillips to concentrate on its core exploration and production business. This credit card, co-branded with Phillips 66, Conoco, and 76, was issued by Citibank South Dakota, NA, in 2007, before the spinoff, so it also bears the Conoco Phillips name on the back. The card is not signed and appears never to have been used.
