Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID.Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list! This listing is for a vintage C.G. Conn Ltd. alto saxophone. The serial number is M177,xxx, which indicates a c.1926 production date. That also makes it a New Wonder (series 2) model, also commonly known as a 'Chu Berry'. As such, it has a fingernail file G# key, and elongated palm keys. It also retains a micro-tuner on the neck and rolled tone holes, as well as a front "F" button, G# trill key, and forked Eb mechanism. This horn comes in the rare '00' "Artist's Special" finish option. It is heavily gold plated, with the entire instrument being burnished, not just the engraved area. It has intricate full bell length engraving that features the image of a musician (perhaps from Greek mythology?). Conns with images such as this are known as 'portrait' horns. The engraving was most likely done by one of the Stenberg brothers, Conn's master engravers. It would be unique to this horn, making this a true one of a kind! This horn is being sold as is. It is not currently in playing condition and will require a full overhaul to be made playable. If there is any horn deserving of a high-quality overhaul it is an Artist series Conn! This will need some work for sure, but it is in overall very solid and restorable condition. Please read on for details, check out the pictures, and if in doubt as questions! This sax is in overall very good physical condition considering its age. The body looks straight. The neck might have just a skosh of pull down, although it is hard to say for sure. There are no significant dents or dings. There is one shallow ding on the front edge of the bow guard, and a handful of minor pings and nicks. The bell/body brace is pushed in very slightly on the bell side. The rim of the bell has not been bent. I don't see any pushed in posts or key-guard feet. The low C key-guard is a bit bent. The neck tenon needs to be re-soldered. I don't see any previously resoldered joints. The micro-tuner is turning freely. The keys are all moving freely. The rollers on the pinky table are turning, but the low Eb/C rollers are not. The gold plate finish is heavily tarnished but appears to be almost fully intact. The pads/corks are definitely shot. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included, and it does not come with a case. It will be packed well in an oversized box with plenty of proper packing material to prevent shipping damage though. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking! 08/16/24-1-F
