THE CLOCK AND WATCH STORE Click images to enlarge Description Maker: Hamilton Watch Company c.1968 Model: "Big Eyes" Chronograph ref.647001-03 Description: This is a vintage Hamilton mens chronograph wristwatch powered by a hand winding 17 jewel Valjoux 7733 movement housed in a stainless steel case for restoration. This is a somewhat harder to find model from the 60's and as you can see, it is missing the rotating divers style bezel, stem and crown. The movement is complete but a bit dirty with some light surface rust around the operating lever that will clean off nicely as it doesn't look heavily rusted. The balance is good, no wobble to the balance wheel and it will move freely. It is wound tight, sets smoothly and was checked with a crown/stem I had from another movement. It has the original hexigon screw type pushers that Hamilton used specifically on their chronographs. The case has light to moderate scratches throughout that can easily be refinished as I see nothing deep. The original crystal has crazing throughout with some marks on the edges. The dial is in very good original condition with the original finish showing only a few small spots here and there as you might expect on a vintage dial. The hands also are original and have the original finish with evenly aged and darkened radium centers on the hour and minute hands. I cannot test the chronograph functions since it is not running but I can say that it resets to zero since that function can be tested. I have been on a buying spree and some unexpected events popped up, causing me to do a catch and release on some fine watches I was hoping to restore over the next few years.
