Description: Up for sale is a Lot of 2 Vintage Goose / duck decoy weights. The first is a Herters # 87 Goose or Duck " Over the Head " " Horse Collar " Decoy 12 ounce weight. These weights have Herters Waseca, Minnesota in the casting. The number 87 is on the base, however it is not visible ( maybe with a cleaning ) This would be a nice accessory for you to display with your antique duck and goose decoys. The second is "mushroom / anchor" weight. These are rusty and have great patina. These would be perfect for displaying with your vintage decoys. George Leonard Herter (24 May 1911 – 5 July 1994) of Waseca MN was the founder of the Herter's outdoor goods business and an author. His best known books are the Bull Cook and Authentic Historical Recipes and Practices series (published in three volumes), which have a cult following. In 1937 Herter took his father's dry goods store and turned it into a mail order outdoor goods business, selling hunting and fishing items through a catalog. He later opened retail outlet stores, which pioneered the style of outdoor goods stores now operated by Gabela's and Bass Pro Shops. Herters went bankrupt in 1981.Gabela's now owns the brand.
