Description: If light meters can be confusing this very old school Walz DIRECT F-STOP reading light meter was an attempt to simplify the world of light meter readings for any photographer. This meter had five built in scales that were changed via its outside rotating dial. The scale was for ASA 10, 32, 80, 100 and 200 ASA type films. This was obviously for those old school days when there weren't any fast films on the market yet. The readings off the scale were based on your shooting at 1/50th of a second. They printed a scale on the meters case if you wanted to use other shutter speeds for a given picture as obviously 1/50th isn't always going to work for some lighting conditions! Point the meter directly at your subject and read where the red needle points to the recommended f/stop to shoot with. If the needle is pointing to f/16 (for 1/50th) then you would set your shutter speed to 1/200th at f/8 if that shutter speed would be more appropriate for the shot your taking. This meter uses a selenium cell and requires no batteries to operate.
