In addition to the success of his printed books, his books have second lives and in continuing influence adapted for films and television.Frank Tenney Johnson, 6/26/1884 - 1/1/1939, the illustrator of the plates in this book was a painter of the Old American West, and he popularized a style of painting cowboys which became known as "The Johnson Moonlight Technique. To paint his paintings, he used knives, fingers and brushes. In 1912, he joined Charles Russel on a sketching expedition to the Blackfoot Reservation in Montana.The story revolves around Lucy Bostil, a stable owner's daughter who one day happens upon an unconscious Lin Slone. When he comes to, Lin convinces Lucy to race his horse Wildfire in an impending race. However, there are others who would see that the pair fail in their endeavor to win.
