DISCLAIMER: If you are looking for a fully hand made or guaranteed authenticity Yixing teapot, Then this is probably not for you. This is an entry level teapot and priced accordingly. Now the description: This Yixing teapot is a very good value. It has a silky smooth minerality-( depending on the tea) and NO sandiness or clay smell. The original seller described it as "Aged Zi Ni purple clay". I can not confirm or guarantee these claims. I have used this pot for about a year, and I have enjoyed it a lot, I have since bought other teapots and and re-assigned different teas to different pots. So I have not been using this one so much lately. I Originally used this for Shu Pu erh most of the time, but later tried different teas in it. The best tea to brew in this teapot would be ripe (shu) Pu erh , dark Oolong, Strong dark black tea. or hei cha (fermented tea).(Perhaps strong or aged white tea also, but I have not tried it.) For raw pu erh, Unless you have the best and most whole leaves, it can actually feel more astringent in the mouth. I have had varying experiences with that one. (I have had smooth raw pu erh tea with nice high quality whole leaves, but with more broken leaves or crumbs the tea astringency will make your tongue pucker and you will feel a texture.)( The raw teas I tried in this pot were about 10 years aged. I have not tried young raw pu erhs.) Not recommended for green tea, or other light fragrant teas.
